Rainbow Housing: Invest In Tenants, Improve Bottom Line

Rainbow Housing Assistance Corp. is a nonprofit organization that aims to support affordable housing owners by providing programs to residents that create a sense of community and provide educational opportunities and other financial and non-financial support. “The idea is to create a sense of value for the tenant base and stabilize that tenant base in a way that will increase operating income,” said Flynann Janisse, executive director.

Rainbow was founded in 2002 with the idea that tenants in affordable housing communities need more than bricks and mortar. In an interview with REFI Managing Editor Samantha Rowan last week, Janisse discussed the kinds of programs that Rainbow offers in the context of keeping tenants in a position where they can continue to pay rent.
