A pronouncement last week by Philadelphia Federal Reserve President Charles Plosser that higher interest rates might be coming sooner than anyone expected stoked some fears among commercial real estate players. In a speech on Tuesday, Plosser suggested rates could rise in the third quarter because the Federal Reserve is hitting some of its key metrics for improvement, such as a dropping unemployment rate, earlier than expected.
